In April of 2017, the Kokomo Perspective published an great article about our Adventure Island project:

There is something special about a playground. It is where a community gathers. It is where children laugh and grow, borne from seeds that neighbors sow. It is where memories are made, and futures are designed. It can be a very special place that lingers in the heart of a child for a lifetime.

But a typical play space may not suit the specific requirements of our special needs community. Often, these children may not be able to access the regular equipment, or maybe safety or sensory concerns prevent a trip to the park, or maybe they are not enrolled in the local school system that provides P.E class or recess time. A host of sensory, safety and physical challenges may not allow these kiddos to satisfy that basic need and desire for physical expression: to run, and swing, and jump.

Imagine an inclusive environment that accounts for these challenges. The Autism Resource Center of Kokomo (ARCK) asks you to imagine such a place in Kokomo, and seeks your contribution as we kick off our campaign to create an accessible play space for our local families. We call this space "Adventure Island!"

ARCK is a local volunteer, 100% non-profit organization founded by parents of children with autism. We are seeking financial donations, items or services for our Adventure Island project. The funds raised will be used to purchase equipment, secure space, and support staff. We are a recognized 501c(3) non-profit and all your contributions will be tax deductible. Whether your donation is strictly financial or in the form of items or services, you can be certain you, or your company, will be recognized during our events throughout the year and on our website, newsletter, and signage.
